Thou shalt not be a victim. Thou shalt not be a perpetrator. Above all, thou shalt not be a bystander.
- Holocaust Museum, Washington, DC

The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.
- Albert Einstein

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
– Margaret Mead

I was horrified to read about the attack by Israel on the Freedom Flotilla which was only full of peace activists and humanitarian Aid for the people of Gaza. I mean, I am always horrified with the actions that Israel has been taking, and the world leaders standing by and letting it happen for whatever reason. And I am coming from purely the side of being human, and that all humans should have equal human rights as agreed by the world in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which includes the right not to be oppressed. Most major charities take the view that Gaza is a humanitarian crisis. So this blatant finger up to the United Nations and murdering of aid workers is just another level of horror. Even the Nobel-winning Elders deplore Gaza flotilla attack.

So don’t be a bystander. Join the facebook groups like Condemn Israel’s massacre on the Viva Palestina flotilla and sign the petitions at Avaaz.org, attend demonstrations like National Gaza Flotilla Demonstration – End the Siege on Gaza! Above all, keep the conversation happening, keep this in the media attention, don’t let people forget.

Like my very wise manager Gavin Sealey said: “Keep talking and keep sharing, try to widen the discussion. Embed the conversation everwhere. Don’t be partisan but always take the side of humanity, rationality and compassion.”

And the wise words of many others:

I swore never to be silent whenever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.
- Elie Wiesel

I am only one,
But still I am one.
I cannot do everything,
But still I can do something;
And because I cannot do everything
I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.
- Edward Everett Hale

If you think you are too small to be effective, you have never been in the dark with a mosquito.
- Betty Reese
